For immediate release                                    January 18, 2007

The Buffalo County Historical Society is proud to announce the donation of

the first half of $15,000 pledged by an anonymous donor as a matching gift

to the society's building fund drive.

Several generous individuals donated a total of $7,500 to the fund so the

society would receive this portion. These donations are allocated to the

Building Fund for the Archive Building Expansion.

The expansion will allow the society to store its overflowing collections

of historic Buffalo County records and documents in a humidity-controlled

atmosphere with a chemical sprinkler system.  Dedicated volunteers use the

records to assist the public to research their families, homes,

businesses, and stories from the past.

The fund drive and expansion are part of a strategic plan for Trails and

Rails Museum at 710 W. 11th St., which the society operates.  More details

of the plan and the goal for the fund drive will be revealed to the

society's membership at its annual meeting this spring and then will be

made public.
